General Information


Conference registration hours and location:
Registration for CLEO/Europe-EQEC 2017 will take place at the ICM centre (See http://www.cleoeurope.org/venue). To enter the ICM centre please take the main Entrance West (named "Haupteingang WEST"). CLEO/Europe-EQEC 2017 registration counters are located on the left side at the end of the main corridor just prior you enter the exhibition halls.

Internet and W-LAN lounges
All congress participants using their own laptops/notebooks/pads have free access to three W-LAN lounges located at the congress centre (ICM):
•    ICM Foyer Süd
•    ICM Main Foyer of the ICM main entrance
•    ICM 1st floor, opposite of the Speakers’ Check-In
Internet is with high-speed access and unlimited download.

In the other places, in the rooms, only the wifi-version with limited bandwidth (up to 1.5 Mbit/second) and limited download volume (50 MB per user per day) is available.

Cloakroom:
The cloakroom will already be open on Sunday 25 June and during the full time of the conference. This year, for the first time, you will also find a cloakroom directly at the ICM Mezzanine floor for all congress attendees.

Conference language:

English will be the official language of the conference.

Passport and visa requirements:
Foreign visitors entering Germany must be in possession of a valid ID or passport. EU nationals, in general, do not require a visa, however most other non-German participants do. Please click here to find out whether you will need a visa or not. Delegates from countries requiring visas should apply to the German consular offices or diplomatic missions in their home countries.

Those who need a visa must satisfy the visa requirements of their local German Embassy/Consulate including

  • a Visa Invitation letter
  • a confirmed travel booking, including flight, train and/or bus bookings, hotel reservation and health insurance 
  • a confirmed order for their online registration as well as any special local requirements. 

Therefore, all participants requiring a visa should first register to CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2017.
 
Contributors requesting a letter of invitation should pre-fill the invitation letter and return it to the European Physical Society (to conferences@eps.org) to be duely signed and returned to the recipients.

Important: The invitation letter will only be sent to contributors who have submitted a contribution. The reference of the paper will be asked.

The filled out invitation letter must be taken, along with the conference on line registration confirmation and all travel documents to the German Mission (Embassy or Consulate) responsible for their present place of residence to apply for a visa.

Only email invitations will be sent. In case an express air shipment needs to be done, this needs to be specified in the email request. All costs pertaining to this shipment need to be paid in advance (approximate cost 70€)

NO INVITATION WILL BE SENT AFTER 15 JUNE 2017.

Possibly invitation letters coming from the World of Photonics Congress organisation in Munich can also be requested. For this purpose please use the following link for your request:

The service is exclusively reserved to the conference contributors having an accepted presentation at the conference.

Conference management:
Conference management is provided by the European Physical Society, 6 rue des Frères Lumière,F-68200 Mulhouse, France.

Places to visit in Munich:

Munich city and its famous "Marienplatz" is always full with tourists from all around the world. Munich is a very attractive town. There you will always find something to do (shopping, restaurants, bars, walking around the market place, visits of museums, churches, beergardens, and so on). Usefull on site information: 

Pharmacy:
The nearest pharmacy is “SaniPlus” in the Riem Arcaden shopping center. It is located on the ground floor in the right portion of the building, just a three-minute walk from the West Entrance.

Opening hours: Monday through Saturday 09:00 - 20:00.

Bank:
A ReiseBank branch is located at the Munich East train station (Ostbahnhof, Orleansplatz 11) where you can made deposits (to ReiseBank and other banks), exchange currency and transfer funds.

Münchner Bank has a self-service branch in the Riem Arcaden shopping center, just a three-minute walk from the West Entrance. It is equipped with an ATM (deposits and withdrawals), an account-statement printer and a service terminal.

Sparda-Bank has a branch office in the Riem Arcaden shopping center, just a three-minute walk from the West Entrance, where Sparda-Bank customers can make deposits and withdraw funds. They do not exchange currency there.

Optician:
Optician “Fielmann” has a retail outlet in the Riem Arcaden shopping center, just a three-minute walk from West Entrance.

Post office:
Deutsche Post has a small branch office in the Riem Arcaden shopping center, just a three-minute walk from West Entrance (lower level next to the “Edeka” supermarket).

Dry cleaning:
“Pan-o-tex” dry cleaning is located in the Riem Arcaden shopping center, just a three-minute walk from West Entrance.

Travel office:
A “TUI” travel office is located in the Riem Arcaden shopping center, just a three-minute walk from West Entrance.
