Student Travel Grants

As part of their student grant program, the Optica (formely OSA) together with its Optica Foundation are happy to announce Student Travel Grants to attend CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2023.
These grants are specifically designed for PhD students who wish to participate in CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2023 by partially covering their travel expenses to the conference. Recipients of these grants are expected to have made outstanding scientific contributions in the field of optics and photonics. The primary aim of these grants is to support talented young scientists in their participation at CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2023.

The recipients are cordially invited to attend the EQEC Plenary and Award Ceremony, which will take place on Tuesday, June 27, from 10:30 to 12:30 in Room 1 at ICM, Neue Messe Munich, Germany. During this event, they will be recognized and awarded their grants and diplomas.

Grants :

  • 10 grants, in amount of 500,- € each, are available.
  • All PhD Students wishing to attend the conference are invited to apply. Only thesis students can apply, doctoral positions are not accepted.
  • The monetary amounts will be given by bank transfer after the conference.

Selection Criteria :

  • The grants will be awarded to PhD Students having not yet defended their thesis at the dates of the conference. Recipients must have an accepted oral or poster contribution at the conference.
  • In case the application for the Travel Grant Student Award (TGSA) is also done, only one support may be given

Aplication procedure :

  • Applications must be made between October 25, 2022 and January 26, 2023 by using the online submission system of the CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2023 conference.
  • There, a special item will point to the Optica Foundation Student Travel Grant Student.
  • If you are interested in applying, just tick the corresponding box during the online submission,
  • Then below this item upload a double-page pdf document (.pdf format) detailing

Page 1:
(i) your name, surname, date of birth,
(ii) your complete affiliation,
(iii) the title and the 35-word abstract of your contribution,
(iv) starting date of the PhD studies and expected date of the PhD defense,
(v) your list of publications limited to the five most significant articles.

Page 2:
(vi) a support letter of the supervisor
